Exciting news!
A new project for sediment management was launched last week in Bucharest, Romania. Under HORIZON Programme, DANube SEdiment Restoration: towards the deployment and upscaling of sustainable management of the sediments across the Danube catchment basin (DANSER) project focuses on restoring sediment balance, improving sediment flow and quality, and integrating innovative solutions to address environmental challenges.
On 28-30 of January 2025, Danube Delta National Institute as lead partner and all project partners and stakeholders met in Bucharest for the kick off meeting of the project. The project consortium consisting of 35 of partners from 15 countries presented the objectives and main activities to be realized in the frame of the project.
The event was also attended by representatives of DG MARE, CINEA, EC, Ministry of Environment, Water and Forest from Romania, the Governor of Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve.
3 sediment related projects in implementation were invited to present their objectives and activities, namely Sundanse, DanubeSediment_Q2 and iNNo SED.
Thus, the representative of partner NARW presented the scope and outcomes of DanubeSediment_Q2 project, emphasising the synergies and collaboration for an innovative management of sediments in the Danube River basin.
During the event, valuable information was gained, and a fruitful networking was developed.
This event was not only the launch of a new project but also a particularly good opportunity to link the sediment management related projects for better results in the field of research, innovation and policies for quality and quantity of sediments.
